I opened my shop and had a few of my cars and bikes in magazines like Hustler, OUI and Hot Rod Bikes. In 1991, I started Road Racing and won my first championship that year in two classes 500 & 600 Singles.
Applying the preparation I learned at the track to the bikes I built for the street, I developed a level of integrity that I hold dear to this date. “If the shit does not fly on the track, it will not fly on the street” Meaning: the riders’ safety comes first! You can not afford to have a failure when going 150 miles per hour, that just doesn't fly…
I started racing everything on two wheels...... I raced the desert, motorcross and drag racing. As time went on with no sponsors, I knew I had to race what I knew and that was Harleys. I got a Sporster and went on the A.M.A national circuit. I went to a Hollywood Hills party, at that party I met a guy called Rick James you know him - "Super Freak” and acquired a sponsor, a clothing line called Weavers and a great man named Mark Ciuwinski owned it. He paid me to live out a dream and I went on to race at Daytona in 1993.
DR CARL'S HOG HOSPITAL was located on Venice Blvd 5050 Los Angeles CA - to be exact and I ran the shop there until late 1997 when I moved to South Park Colorado (Yes there is such a place) to live the easy life in the mountains. However, the easy life had a big price - poverty. It rained every day so I thought I would make it back to New York, and open a shop here on Long Island.
Since returning, I started the NEW YORK MOTOR COMPANY building my clients dream machines!
